Reader’s view: Fetal alcohol syndrome behind many shootings
All the writings about U.S. Sen. Al Franken’s idea on gun control, school safety and improved mental-health services have been fine, except one very important fact has been ignored. That is addressing fetal alcohol syndrome suffered by children in our communities.

Without appropriate care and treatment, which is needed their entire lives, children born with fetal alcohol syndrome can become our criminals and contribute to our violent culture; they can become homeless, drug addicts, gang members and prisoners. They can even die prematurely.
I have evidence to show many school shooters were born with fetal alcohol syndrome. Think of the economic costs we have.
