CHARLES FREDERICK SCHEER

Charles Frederick Scheer, 77, answered the call of his Lord Jesus Christ to new adventures on Dec. 30, 2012 after a difficult battle with myelodysplastic syndrome.

He was born Sept. 3, 1935 to Charles Elliott and Mary (Quam) Scheer in St. Paul.

He was a proud member of the first graduating class of Minnetonka High School in 1953. He attended the University of Minnesota and Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Mass., and four years in the Army as a helicopter mechanic.

He owned a tree trimming/landscaping business in Minneapolis before moving his family north to a farm where he grew vegetables for sale. He kept bees and farm animals and he enjoyed feeding his tame and wild birds.

He joined the Millwright’s Local 1348 where he was a lifetime member, and spent long times away from home building and repairing machinery for many businesses. One of the joys of his retirement was the monthly breakfast meetings with Gary Dahl and the men with whom he’d worked for so many years.

He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. It was the joy of his heart to prepare Sunday dinners for family and friends for over 20 years, His table was always surrounded by happy people.

He enjoyed translating from the Greek, delighting in finding deeper understanding of Christian truth and discussing new insights with family, friends, and colleagues.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, April (Donald) Scheer; his sister, Dianne Klodt; brothers William (Sandi Sherman) Scheer of Minneapolis, and Henry (Ellen Haywood) Scheer of Pittsburg, Calif.; daughters Celia Scheer (Richard Kerby) and Miranda Scheer; six grandchildren Bryce Kassing-Scheer, Mara Scheer, Alice (Nick) Faegre, Kayla (Adam) Wheaton, Quinn Kassing-Scheer, and Theresa Birkedahl; nieces nephews, and many friends,

He will always be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
