Faye Helen (Brown) Savolainen, 87, of Nashwauk passed away unexpectedly at Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation Center in Duluth on Friday, Dec.
Faye Helen (Brown) Savolainen, 87, of Nashwauk passed away unexpectedly at Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation Center in Duluth on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012 after spending Christmas with her family.
Faye was born on March 24, 1925, the youngest child of Edward and Bertha Brown of Nashwauk.
She graduated from Nashwauk High School and worked in the mines with other women during World War II until marrying Henry Savolainen in 1947.
Widowed at age 44, Faye was dedicated to her children and was very involved with her grandchildren. She was active in the Nashwauk United Methodist Church, an avid bowler and enjoyed 10 years at Deering Manor in Nashwauk before moving to Hillcrest Adams in Hibbing.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry in 1969; her son, Marc in 1996; brothers, George, William and John Brown; and sister, Shirley Vaughn.
She is survived by her daughters Linda (Greg) Ewald of Duluth, Janet (Phil) LeNoie of Hibbing, Nancy (Mike) Flesch of Monticello and Laura (John) Doffing of Winona; two granddaughters; nine grandsons; seven great grandchildren and many other relatives.
VISITATION: 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, in Range Funeral Home in Hibbing and for one hour prior to the 12 noon memorial service on Friday, Jan. 4, in the United Methodist Church in Nashwauk.
