“EAT! Something Already” is a collection of more than 100 traditional Jewish recipes, submitted by members of the local Jewish community.

The 190-page book offers recipes for appetizers, desserts, side dishes, main courses, soups, salads, breads and holiday specialties. Many of the recipes have been handed down through the generations.

“We’re calling it a ‘heritage cookbook,’” said Cindy Seiler, who chaired the committee that compiled the book. “We put out a call to the Jewish community of the Twin Ports to submit their favorite family recipes.”

Included are recipes for Jewish favorites including matzo ball soup, challah, beef brisket, chopped liver and potato knishes.

Seiler said it’s a book that people of all faiths can enjoy.

“Anybody can find recipes they will like (in the book),” she said. “It would make a great Christmas gift.”

The book is currently available exclusively through Temple Israel.

“In the near future we hope to have several local retail outlets where people can purchase the cookbook,” said the book’s publisher, Jim Perlman of Holy Cow! Press.

Copies are available for $20 plus $6 for postage and handling. Orders can be sent to: Cookbooks, Temple Israel, 1602 E. Second St., Duluth MN 55812. You can also pick up a copy at the temple at 1602 E. Second St., or place an order by calling 218-724-8857.
