Christine Ann Sathers, 64, of Duluth, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, in St. Luke’s hospital.

Christine Ann Sathers, 64, of Duluth, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, in St. Luke’s hospital.

Chris was born Oct. 24, 1948, in Duluth, the daughter of Raymond Melvin and Patricia (Hake) Lyytinen. She was a lifelong resident of Duluth, graduating from Central and employed at UMD for 31 years, retiring in 2011. She shared her time and talents as a volunteer to multiple organizations and was instrumental in organizing gatherings of family and friends.

Chris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was known for her strong spirit, love of life, generous heart, a concern for others, positive attitude, her bright smile and her sincere willingness to help others. She brightened many lives, and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Candace Endres and Patty Douville; her mother-in-law, Edith; father-in-law Oscar; and brother-in-law Gary Sathers.

Chris is survived by her loving husband, Robert “Bob”, of Duluth; daughters Carrie Lott and Leisa (Dan) Woorster; son Allen; sister Gail (Jim) Wall; brother Raymond D. (Deb) Lyytinen; 10 grandchildren, Cala Lott, Calen Porter, Cyle Jones, Tiffany, Tori and JJ Norick, Kenzie and Tyler Sathers, and Jason and Josie Woorster; great-grandson Syler; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jim (Jackie) Sathers, Lauren “Butch” (Charlene) Sathers and Steve Douville; numerous nieces and nephews; and her loved precious Pomeranian, Taffy.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you for the exceptional care provided by Dr. Sproat and the physicians and staff of St. Luke’s hospital.

VISITATION: 2 until the 3 p.m. memorial service Thursday, Jan. 3, in the First Memorial Chapel, 4100 Grand Ave.
