Last year, Community Action Duluth’s free tax prep sites helped 1,600 families claim $2.76 million in tax refunds, including more than $860,000 in Earned Income Tax Credit. With EITC, a family can boost household income 10 percent to 30 percent, but they need to file a tax return.
“We want Duluth to get its fair share of EITC, and claim it by filing for free,” tax site manager Julia Cheng said. “That’s new federal money coming into Duluth.”
