Eh? Lutefisk for lovers, cod for haters

The U.S. consumes more lutefisk than Norway does during the Christmas season, according to Mike Raschick of Sons of Norway in Duluth. And you can be a part of that mind-blowing factoid by attending the “Lutefisk Lovers & Lutefisk Haters Unite” dinner Sunday at Norway Hall.

Dinner is served at 5 p.m. at the hall at 21A Lake Ave. in downtown Duluth. Norway’s king and queen are split on it. Queen Sonja loves it while King Harald detests the meal. Find out on which side you fall.

There’s a neat twist, though. Fresh cod will be served for those who hate lutefisk. There also will be a pork-based Christmas meatball called Medister.

The event will have dancing, a 14-foot Christmas tree, caroling and accordion music from Gerald Thilmany. Norwegian Santa is rumored to make an appearance, too.
