Layla Jae Johnson
I WAS BORN: Feb. 11, 2012, in Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center.
MY PARENTS ARE: Keith and Laura Johnson of Duluth.
MY GRANDPARENTS ARE: Grant and Cathy Schwartz of Canyon and Randy and Kathy Johnson of Superior.
MY GREAT-GRANDPARENTS ARE: Marie Head of Duluth; Ardene Johnson and Pat Berg, both of Superior; and the late George Head.
MY PARENTS CHOSE THIS NAME BECAUSE: I picked my own name! Daddy put his hands on Mama’s belly and said several names out loud. I had some definitive kicks for ‘Layla.’ Jae is my mama’s Korean name.
PARENTS’ WISH OR ADVICE: Always be nice to your big “sister” Olive. Please stop pulling Mama’s hair. Finish your veggies. Love with your whole heart. Be kind. Be grateful. Never forget — you’re marvelous!
SOMETHING SPECIAL: Layla Jae, you sure took your time! (More than 24 hours of labor and 2-1/2 hours of pushing!) But you were well worth the wait. You decided to arrive three days early, the absolute best Valentine’s Day present we could have asked for.
