Health Notes: HIV prevention goes online in Minnesota

A long-established University of Minnesota research program on prevention of HIV and sexually transmitted diseases among men has gone online.

Man-to-Man Sexual Health Seminars, led by U of M professor B.R. Simon Rosser, provided HIV prevention and sexual health education to men who seek other men for sex for almost 20 years, a University of Minnesota news release said.

The shift is being made because men are increasingly turning to the Internet to find partners, the news release said.

In the news release, Rosser said the university was an early leader in providing education directly to gay and bisexual men, the community most directly affected by HIV in the U.S.

Educational materials from Rosser’s seminars have been transferred to the Jean-Nickolaus Tretter Collection in Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Studies at the University of Minnesota Libraries, one of the largest archives of its kind in the world, the news release said.
