St. Luke’s hospital made U.S. News and World Report’s 2013 Best Hospitals Guide for its care of cardiac patients.

In a news release, St. Luke’s reported it received silver awards for two areas in cardiac care. The first is for handling of heart-failure patients. The second is for handling of STEMI patients. The latter is shorthand for Segment Elevation Myocardial Infraction, which is a particularly severe form of heart attack.

To achieve the recognition, a hospital has to meet or exceed various achievement measures.
