I WAS BORN: Aug. 29, 2012, in St. Luke’s hospital in Duluth.

MY PARENTS ARE: Laurie Menz and Erik Beckwith of Saginaw.

MY BROTHER IS: Benjamin, 7.

MY GRANDPARENTS ARE: Rick and Sue Menz of Duluth and Doug and Ruth Beckwith of Sag­inaw.

MY GREAT-GRANDPARENTS ARE: Jerry and Pat Le-Garde and Marion Menz, all of Duluth; Charles Beckwith of Mesa, Ariz.; Lois Bellows of Brookings, S.D.; and the late Richard Menz, Marilyn Beckwith and Richard Bellows.

MY PARENTS CHOSE THIS NAME BECAUSE: Mom always loved the name “Kate” and it was the only one they could agree on. LeGarde is after Grand­pa Big Jer and Grand­ma Pat, and is also Grandma Susie’s maiden name.

PARENTS’ WISH OR ADVICE: Respect yourself. Laugh even if no one else gets the joke. Don’t underestimate what you can accomplish and never be afraid to assert yourself.

SOMETHING SPECIAL: You were born on your brother Ben’s seventh birthday. When you first heard his voice you recognized it and lit up. He calls you “Katie Bug.”
