News Tribune, Nov. 8, 1972 Rep. Dwight Swanstrom, a veteran Minnesota House member, lost his District 7B seat to newcomer Mike Jaros, a Liberal, in yesterday’s general election. In Duluth’s 8th Senate District, Ralph R. Doty won a four-year term over Conservative Lewis Latto, a city councilman. Duluth voters yesterday overwhelmingly approved a $1 boarding fee at the Duluth International Airport. Proceeds from the fee will go toward reducing any property tax levy which might be necessary to retire bonds sold to build the new air terminal.

One of the biggest deer registered yesterday was a 250-pound buck shot by Tom Kellerhuis of Duluth. Organizers of a centennial celebration for Koochiching County’s gold rush next July are looking for volunteers to sponsor events. Voyageurs National Park officials hope to provide improved access to the Little American gold mine and the old Rainy Lake City site.
