The trauma center at St. Luke’s hospital in Duluth has been recertified by the American College of Surgeons as a Level II Trauma Center.

The hospital, which has carried the certification since 1990, is now certified through May 2015 after being found capable of providing extensive emergency-room care day or night, every day.

“The commitment by St. Luke’s to care for injured individuals in our region, day or night, 365 days a year, with the finest staff and most advanced technology, reflects a crucial part of our mission to put the patient above all else,” said Dr. Mark Monte, St. Luke’s trauma director.
