Albert Place Fegley, passed away Oct. 30, 2012.

He was born in Mont Clare, Penn., on Sept. 18, 1929, the son of Stanley and Bertha Fegley.

Graduated from Phoenixville High School, Pennsylvania, Class of 1947. Graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a bachelors degree in electrical engineering, 1951. Graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a masters degree in electrical engineering, 1958.

Awarded three patents for power systems pertaining to large computers. Held a life membership in the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE). Inducted into the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and served in the Signal Corps. During this time, volunteered for a five-man Antarctic research team. While on the ice, had the occasion to transport Admiral Richard E. Byrd to the flag-raising ceremony at Little America Number Five. Employment was with Burroughs Corp., Ford Aerospace, and Valley Forge Technical Communications.

Albert transferred his love of the outdoors and sense of adventure to his family and many young people in Pennsylvania. Many family vacations were spent canoeing and camping in the Canadian wilderness and Boundary Waters. Music was also part of his life. He enjoyed playing the flute in band during high school, college, and later at family get-togethers.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents; brother Stanley; and sister Marian.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marie Fegley; his son Brent and wife Lora of Illinois; daughter Sharon Moen of Minnesota; daughter Adele Girmendonk and husband Robert of New Mexico; six granddaughters, and brother Kenneth and sister-in-law Virginia of Pennsylvania.

SERVICE: 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012 in Ecumen Lakeshore Chapel, 4004 London Road, Duluth. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the Salvation Army of Duluth.
