Duluth inspires art for fundraiser

Ask an artist to consider Duluth as a muse and they will find a range of ways to do it. They will make landscape paintings, create abstract pieces using Lake Superior for inspiration or grab stones or wood to create small sculpture.

Ask an artist to consider Duluth as a muse and they will find a range of ways to do it. They will make landscape paintings, create abstract pieces using Lake Superior for inspiration or grab stones or wood to create small sculpture.

Dozens of local artists contributed pieces to the Duluth Art Institute’s fundraiser “Artistic Duluth.” The doors open at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Kitchi Gammi Club, 831 E. Superior St.

Some proceeds from the sales go to the artists and some go toward programming at the art institute.

A handful of the artists who have work in the auctions talked about how they used Duluth as a muse in creating pieces for the auction.
