Chocolate Salad Dressing Cake
1 c. sugar
4 T. cocoa
1 c. cold water
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. salad dressing
Dissolve the baking soda in the cold water. Combine the sugar, cocoa, baking soda mixture, salt and vanilla. Add flour and mix well. Fold in the salad dressing mixture until smooth, light and fluffy. Grease and flour a 9-by-13-inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Frosting:
1 square chocolate or 5 T. cocoa
1/2 c. butter or margarine
1/3 c. milk
1 c. sugar
a dash of salt
1 tsp. vanilla
Mix the first five ingredients and boil for 1 full minute. Beat until cool and add the vanilla. It will thicken as it cools.
