Charles Dayton, a spokesman for the Minnesota Public Interest Research Group, said yesterday the U.S. Forest Service is wrong in allowing cutting of virgin timber in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Dayton said 10,000 acres are under contract to be cut. A family of Cloquet doctors this weekend will receive the distinguished Diehl Award from the University of Minnesota Medical School. Dan Russell, Duluth Entertainment Convention Center executive director, said yesterday there will not be a Bob Dylan concert in Duluth this fall. A Minneapolis promoter had said in August that he was negotiating a deal to bring Dylan to Duluth.
