David B. Lofquist

David B. Lofquist, 67, of Duluth, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, surrounded by his loving family while in St. Luke’s hospital following a brief illness.

David B. Lofquist, 67, of Duluth, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, surrounded by his loving family while in St. Luke’s hospital following a brief illness.

Dave was born Dec. 11, 1944, in Duluth, to Earl and Mavis “Jackie” Lofquist. He grew up in Duluth, graduated from Central High School, and married Roberta (Manz) Ceryes, his high school sweetheart, in 1965. Dave worked for Davidson Printing for many years right after high school before becoming a Greyhound bus driver. He retired from Greyhound in 2002 after 23 years of service.

Dave loved the outdoors and spent his time hunting and fishing with his brothers, children and grandchildren. He was the executive director of the Duluth Horseshoe Club and enjoyed recruiting new members. Dave also loved bowling and played several times a week in his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Jackie; brother Doug; and two half-brothers.

Dave is survived by his children, Mike (Tammy) Lofquist of Esko, Angie (Terry) Wills of Ohio, and Rebecca Bullard and Brian (Kim) Lofquist, both of Duluth; grandchildren Kyle, Karlyn, Kayla, Tyler, Trevor and Amanda; brother John (Lola Rae) Lofquist of Nashwauk; sister Audrey (Lennart) Johnson of Duluth; sister-in-law Cathy; a half-brother; his uncle, Dick; ex-wife and friend Bobbie; and many nieces and nephews.

A GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, in the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave.
