Milo R. Foss, 90, of Duluth, passed away with his family at his side, Tuesday, Oct.

Milo R. Foss, 90, of Duluth, passed away with his family at his side, Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at Superior View Assisted Living.

He was born May 6, 1922 at his family home in Washburn, Wis., to Philip and Pearl Foss.

Milo attended Denfeld High School and was a C.C.C. member at Sawbill Trail. On Feb. 2, 1940 he married his high school sweetheart, Mona Swanson.

Milo was a member of the National guard and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the C.B.’s in the Pacific Theater.

He worked as a welder, at several places around the United States but retired from D.M. & I.R. Railroad in 1984.

Milo was an accomplished musician, playing for many years at several local nightspots and at senior centers throughout the city. He enjoyed golfing with his friends at Enger and Nemadji Golf Courses and bowling on the senior leagues at Country Lanes. Milo was a stiff competitor.

Milo was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Mona; an infant grandson, Coety Lee; and his parents.

He is survived by his son, Dennis and daughter-in-law, Sherry of Cloquet; three grandchildren, Shane (Prisila) of Plano, Texas, Lisa Merrill of Cloquet and Matt (April) of Cloquet; 12 great-grandchildren; and several cousins.

The family would like to thank the staff of Superior View Assisted Living for the excellent care given to Milo.

VISITATION: 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, and will continue from 12 Noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service Monday, Oct. 22, all in First Memorial Chapel, 4100 Grand Avenue. Burial will be at Bethany Cemetery.
