MINNEAPOLIS — Twin Cities rapper P.O.S. is canceling his national tour, saying he needs a new kidney.

In a YouTube video, P.O.S. said both of his kidneys "are garbage" and have been "going bad" since he was a teenager.

P.O.S., whose real name is Stef Alexander, said he has been on dialysis for about a month and had planned to take a machine on the road.

Last month the condition forced him to cut short a gig at McNally Smith College of Music in St. Paul.

P.O.S. still plans to hold a concert next Friday at First Avenue in downtown Minneapolis to celebrate the release of his latest album, "We Don't Even Live Here."

The Star Tribune reported that he's asking fans for financial donations, and possible donor matches for a new kidney.
