REV. NORMAN AMAN

Norman Aman, 78, of Fort Wayne, Ind., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012.

Rev. Norman Aman, 78, of Fort Wayne, Ind., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012.

He was born in rural Lehr, N.D., on Oct. 30, 1933.

He later grew up on the family farm near Ellendale, N.D., and attended elementary, high school, and college there. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955. He graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary in Springfield, Ill., (now located in Fort Wayne, Ind.) in 1961 and served parishes in Saskatchewan, Canada, North Dakota, Michigan, and Minnesota. He served as a circuit counselor both in the Michigan and the Minnesota North Districts and as pastoral counselor to the Minnesota North District Lutheran Women's Missionary League. He also became nationally certified in the Intentional Interim Ministry program of his church and served five congregations in the Michigan and Indiana districts. He was married to Dolores Roberts of Detroit, Mich., on April 24, 1965, to which union four children were born.

He leaves behind his wife, Dolores, and their children, Timothy (Tania) Aman of Coral Gables, Fla., Faith (Steve) Felton of Fort Wayne, Ind., James (Paula) Aman of Albertville, Minn., Hope (Jason) Rahn of Ham Lake, Minn.; and 11 grandchildren, Christopher, Melanie, Isaiah, Samuel, Ezekiel, Charity, Jacob, Abbie, Emily, Caleb, Jenna; four sisters and one brother, Ida Ellison of Lodi, Calif., Esther (Wayne) Meyer of Stockton, Calif., Marvin (Doreen) Aman of Apache Junction, Ariz., Irene Weideman of Lodi, Calif., Mavis (Ray) Carpenter of Alma, Wash.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Martha (Miller) Aman; brother, Raymond Aman; and sister, Marion Fuchs.

SERVICE: 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012 in Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 6318 West California Road with calling one hour prior. Rev. William Mueller officiating. Calling also from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the church. Burial at Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Ind. "Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift" 2 Corinthians 9:15. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Concordia Theological Seminary of Fort Wayne, Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Donor's Choice. Arrangements by D.O.
