William G. Scott, Sterling, Alaska resident, 76, passed away, Friday, Oct. 5, 2012 at Nicholson’s Assisted Living facility in Kenai, Alaska.

William G. Scott, Sterling, Alaska resident, 76, passed away, Friday, Oct. 5, 2012 at Nicholson’s Assisted Living facility in Kenai, Alaska.

Bill was born March 15, 1936 in Superior, Wis.

He graduated from Central High School in 1954. Bill joined the Air Force that same year and spent time in Japan and Fort Mead in Washington, D.C. He was employed through and retired from Soo Line Railroad.

Bill was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and canoeing on the Brule River and downhill and cross-country skiing. He was a long-time member of the Brule River Sportsman Club and was president of the Lake Superior Steelhead Association. He started Steelhead Inc. to promote catch and release. He won several awards for his photography. He enjoyed making fishing flies for fly fishing and building fly rods, which he sold and made for his fishing friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney F. and Virginia B. Scott.

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Jeanne of Soldotna; children, Kimberlee Scott of Superior, Wis., Jeffery Scott of Casper, Wyo., Pamela (Brian) Zitelman of LaCrosse, Wis., Wendy (Brian) Wold of Boyceville, Wis.; step-children, Jessica Early (Andrew Marson) of Minneapolis, Brett (Erin) Early of Minneapolis; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

MEMORIAL SERVICES: will be held at a later date.

Arrangements made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel & Crematory.
