WINONA, Minn. — Police in Winona say they're investigating a tavern's report that a man made off with pulltab proceeds by impersonating a state gambling inspector.

Deputy Police Chief Tom Williams said the man went into Cheater's Bar on Thursday and asked to inspect collections from the game.

Williams said a bar employee let the man go through the pulltab boxes. After a while, the man said he had to get something from his vehicle and left.

Williams said the man never returned. The amount of missing money hasn't been disclosed.
