Recipes for Oct. 14

Lasagna Birthday Dinner

2 lb. Italian ground sausage, cooked

1 lb. ground beef, cooked

2 green peppers, chopped

1 c. shredded carrots

1 c. mushrooms

2 large jars of your favorite sauce (I use Prego Garlic)

1 large container of cottage cheese

1 - 5 lb. bag of marble cheese

1 T. garlic

1/2 onion

ready-to-bake lasagna noodles

Cook the onion, garlic, mushrooms, carrots and green peppers in the sauce. Mix in the cooked meat. Cook on the stove for at least one hour. If you have more time, cook longer. Layer the sauce on the bottom of a 24-by-12-inch pan, add noodles, sauce, cottage cheese and marble cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 90 minutes, uncovering the pan for the last 30 minutes.

1 can sliced mushrooms

1 can condensed cheese soup

1/2 c. water

1 tsp. dried oregano

1 tsp. chili powder

10 oz. thin egg noodles, cooked al dente

8 oz. shredded mozzarella cheese

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9-by-13-inch casserole. Brown the hamburger and onion. Drain if needed. Combine all the ingredients except the mozzarella. Bake for 30 minutes, covered with foil. Uncover the pan, sprinkle with mozzarella. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and melted. Let sit for 10 minutes before serving.
