Mardel Lucille Milberger “Gramma Del”, 75 of Cloquet passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012 in Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton with her family by her side.
Mardel Lucille Milberger “Gramma Del”, 75 of Cloquet passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012 in Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton with her family by her side.
She was born Dec. 9, 1936 in Iowa City, Iowa to Emery and Esther Wurtz. She later moved to Cloquet. Mardel married Gordon Milberger.
She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 262. She was a hard working woman, having several jobs throughout her life including the Great Lakes Fishery, the Cloquet Country Club before retiring from the American Legion as Bar Manager. Mardel loved to volunteer her time, being a reader at Washington, Fond du Lac, and Churchill Schools. She enjoyed working on fundraisers and other events with her favorite of all being the annual Halloween Party for Pinewood Learning Center. Mardel loved to bake, and was known for her cakes, with a family favorite being her grasshopper pie. Mardel had a great passion for people and treated all with great respect. Her greatest joy of all was her family and friends.
Mardel was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Duane and David; two infant daughters, Linda and Angela; grandson, Randy Barney Jr., two brothers, Lawrence and Leland Wurtz; and sister, Verona Anderkay.
She is survived by three children, Ross “Rusty” (Renee), Mickey Barney and Kelly Barney all of Cloquet; step-son, Denny (Margaret) of Cloquet; two sisters, Shirley Rossman of Ilinois. and Donna (Chuck) Mershon of St. Louis Park; grandchildren, Tonia (Wade), Kevin, Richard (Chantel), Adam (Sarah), Ashley, Amanda, Jaida, Anthony, Samantha, and Jordon; great grandchildren, Alyssa, Donavon, Beckett, Brandt, Raeann, Desiree, Chelsea, Austin, and Chloe; special sister-in-law, Mary Warner; Godchild, Jesse Hopper; all her Birthday Club friends; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Her smiling ways and pleasant face were a pleasure to all who knew her. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Inter-Faith Care Center for their compassionate and loving care.
VISITATION: 10 until the 11 a.m. Memorial Service Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012 in Atkins Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St. in Cloquet. Inurnment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery.
