Dorthea Ann Pederson, 84, of Silver Bay, Minn., died Tuesday, Sept 25, 2012, in Duluth.
She was born in Blackduck, Minn., on Aug. 27, 1928, to Herbert and Meta Lindquist.
She married Erling Pederson on Sept. 23, 1950; they moved to Silver Bay in 1955 and raised their family there. In August 2009, Dorthea moved to Proctor, Minn., to live with her daughter and family; as result of some health-related issues, she moved to Chris Jensen Care and Rehabilitation Center in May of this year.
Dorthea was an active member of Sychar Lutheran Church in Silver Bay; over the years, she volunteered in many areas of church life including SLCW, education, Luther League, Mission Circle, Church Council, Bible study groups, and numerous committees. She was also an active member of community organizations including Golden Agers, the community Food Shelf, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Historical Society. Dorthea’s hobbies included crocheting, crafts of all kinds, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, and helping others. Visits from friends and family gatherings brought so much joy to her over these last few years. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed by her family. Blessed be her memory.
Dorthea was preceded in death by her husband Erling.
She is survived by her children Steven (Kathy) of Winona, Scott (Sue) of Pequot Lakes, Jean (Steve) Johnson of Windom, Joan (Jeff) Holter of Proctor, and Mark (Rachel) of Elk River; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Helen Miller, of Babbitt; and many nieces and nephews.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, with a visitation one hour prior in Sychar Lutheran Church in Silver Bay, Minn. A time of fellowship will follow the service.
