Douglas Mark “Doug” Klaven, 55 of Keewatin died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012 in Lawrence Township, Minn., after a two year battle with cancer.
Douglas Mark “Doug” Klaven, 55 of Keewatin died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012 in Lawrence Township, Minn., after a two year battle with cancer.
He was born Sept. 15, 1957 in Hibbing, the son of Gilmore and Lorraine (Meyer) Klaven.
He graduated from Hibbing High School and Anoka Area Vocational Technical Institute.
Doug was a longtime resident of the Hibbing area, was employed by Longyear Mining for many years and was a member of the Laborers’ union Local 1097. He was a Harley Davidson and Pontiac enthusiast, loved to ride, and was a member of the Iron Range Motorcycle Club (IRMC). Doug enjoyed tinkering with anything mechanical, hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. He liked attending concerts, had a great sense of humor, and loved spending time with family.
Doug is survived by his partner Sandra Ehrhorn of Lawrence Twp., Minn.; daughter Dusty Rae Klaven of Gheen, Minn.; parents Gilmore and Lorraine Klaven of East Grand Forks; siblings Darrell (Delinda) Klaven of Bemidji, Randy Klaven of Keewatin, Roger (Wendy) Klaven of Side Lake, Rodney Klaven of Keewatin, Nancy Klaven of East Grand Forks, and Tracey (Scott) Mattson of East Grand Forks; numerous nieces and nephews, uncles, aunts, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
VISITATION: 12 Noon Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012 until the 1 p.m. Funeral Service in the Anderson Daniels Funeral Home Chapel in Hibbing. Pastor Mark Shuey will officiate. Interment will be in the Hibbing Park Maple Hill Cemetery.
