GEORGE A. "ART" WELANDER

George A. "Art" Welander, 87, of Stillwater passed away Sept. 17, 2012.

Art was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church, a fourth generation farmer, past president of the Wash. Co. Farm Bureau, past Grant City Deputy Mayor, longtime Town Board member, and Road Supervisor. Past board member, Wash. Co. American Dairy Assoc., Dairy Herd Improvement Assoc., Wash. Co. Ag. Society member, 4H leader, and most recently, Grand Marshall of the Grant City Tractor Parade.

Preceded in death by son, Dean Arthur; and brother, Merle.

Survived by loving wife of 50 years, Joyce (Sundbom); daughter, Beth (Steve) Carlson; grandchildren, Ben, Amy and Holly; sisters, Jeanne Kennedy of Ft. Collins, Colo., and Betty Lundgren of Grant, Minn.; several cousins, and many friends.

SERVICE: 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, in First Lutheran Church, 4000 Linden Street, White Bear Lake. Visitation one hour prior in the church, and Wednesday, Sept. 26, from 4–8 p.m. in the funeral home. Private interment Fairview Cemetery. Memorials will be designated by the family.
