Bunnies and baskets
Jon came to my parents’ house on Easter Sunday 2011 with two Easter baskets — one for my son, Christopher, and one for me. I made the comment that I didn’t realize we started getting baskets for each other since we hadn’t done so for past Easters.
Christopher flew through his basket, and reached over and started ransacking mine, so I did the “oooh” and “awe” for Chris’ sake as he took out all the items. I started to walk away, thinking we had seen everything and he said, “You forgot something.” I turned around to see what I forgot and he had my engagement ring propped in a little hole that he cut in the fabric of my Easter bunny, and it looked as if the bunny was holding the ring. I am certain at that point I went into shock.
Jon then got on his knee — basket and all — and proposed. Christopher was there to share our moment with us, which made it all the more perfect.
