Eh? Share a cup with a cop

Duluth police invite locals to stop by Beaner’s Central, 324 N. Central Ave. in West Duluth, from 7:30-9:30 a.m. this Thursday for a cup of joe and a chat. It’s all part of the city’s recently launched “Coffee with a Cop” initiative.

“It’s important for us to stay connected and reach out to people in the community,” Lt. Leigh Wright said.

Having a chance to converse over a cup of coffee with people in the neighborhood offers a welcome change from the norm for law enforcers, she said.

“We usually don’t have a whole lot of contact with people unless something bad has happened,” Wright noted.

Look for additional opportunities to visit with police officers in coming weeks in other parts of Duluth. You’ll find these events posted on the Duluth city website.
