A construction project on Highway 169 near Lake Vermilion begins Wednesday and will continue through July.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation reports that traffic restrictions will face drivers on nearly two miles of road south and west of the Pike River bridge west of Tower along with intermittent closures for 15 minutes or less.

Flaggers will direct drivers as the road funnels to one lane for both directions of traffic.

MnDOT says the $3.6 million in improvements to the state highway include wider shoulders, turn lanes, flattened hills, straighter curves, and ditching and drainage.
