MEMORABLE MOMENT: Grover, Weets wedding

Layne Grover and Darren “Buzz” Weets, both of Hermantown, were married Jan. 7 in Eastridge Com­munity Church in Duluth.

Her parents are Allan and Pam Grover of Cloquet. His parents are Del and Sue Weets of Carlton.

The bride chose Alison Crotteau as maid of honor. Brides­maids were Darci Weets, Dee Dee Loberg, Natalie Grover and Mary Weets. Emilee Schmitt was flower girl.

The groom chose Chad Porspakka as best man. Groomsmen were Derek Grover, Darrell Weets and Derek Weets. Will Loberg was ring bearer.

The bride, a 2001 graduate of Carlton High School, graduated from the College of St. Benedict/St. John’s University in St. Joseph, Minn., in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in social work, and from Bethel University in St. Paul in 2009 with a master’s degree in business administration. She is a human re­sources analyst for Allete Inc./Minnesota Power in Duluth.

The groom graduated from Lincoln High School in Esko in 1994. He is an owner/partner of Weets Bros. Flatwork Inc. in Carlton.


January thaw

One of the most memorable moments of our January wedding was the surprising lack of snow! We thought for sure we were in for a white wedding, but Mother Nature surprised us with a 40 degree day to say “I do!”
