ZENITH YEARBOOKS NEEDED

Considering blowing the dust off of that old Zenith yearbook your family has and giving it up for another purpose?

The committee of the Historic Central High School Preservation Museum is in need of old Zenith yearbooks dating back to 1943 for its classroom museum at the historic former school.

Drop off books at Marshall Hardware in Lakeside, 4415 E. Superior St., and G.B. Schneider & Co. restaurant, 4602 Grand Ave., in Duluth.

The classroom museum is open from 9-11:30 a.m. the first Friday of each month in room 112 at the Historic Central High School.

DRIVING AND ALZHEIMER'S

The Alzheimer’s Association office in Duluth will conduct the final part of its education series Wednesday.

“Get the Facts,” a presentation pertaining to driving and Alzheimer’s disease, is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Marshall Professional Building, 1301 Rice Lake Rd, and will feature speaker Ann Forest Clark, O.T.

Driving is a hot topic for families living with Alzheimer’s as it’s an important means of independence and one of the abilities impacted by this disease, according to the Alzheimer’s Association.

FREE TICKETS

Arrowhead libraries are offering free tickets to two upcoming OperaFest events. The libraries have tickets available for “A Night at the Opera” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Marshall School, hosted by Steve Staruch of Classical MPR, and performers including Nathan Herfindahl and singers from the Minnesota Opera, the New York City Opera, the Metropolitan Opera and more.

There also are tickets available to the Opera Film Festival Aug. 18-19 at Zinema 2, which includes screenings of “Amadeus,” “La Traviata,” “The Magic Flute,” “The Life of Maria Callas” and “A Night at the Opera.”

For free tickets, stop by a library within the Arrowhead Library System.

PERFORMERS ON TV

The Twin Cities-based vocal ensemble Five By Design will be featured at 7 p.m. today on WDSE-TV performing music from its “Club Swing” production.

This is a good chance to brush up on the quintet that has been featured with the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra. They’ll return for a live performance at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 1 at the University of Minnesota Duluth.
