MEMORABLE MOMENT: Pierce, Rahkola engagement

Pierce, Rahkola

Shannon Pierce of Esko and Jonathan Rahkola of Barnum, plan to be married Aug. 18 in St. Matthew’s Luth­eran Church in Esko.

Her parents are Kevin and Luisa Pierce of Esko. His parents are Jorma and Debra Rahkola of Barnum.

The future bride, a 2006 graduate of Lincoln High School in Esko, graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in political science and Spanish. She plans to relocate to Minot, N.D. , after the couple is married.

The future groom, also a 2006 graduate of Lincoln High School, graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. He is a civil engineer/engineer in training, at Enbridge in Minot.

Gooseberry delight

Jon proposed on Oct. 8 while at the base of the lower falls at Gooseberry Falls State Park. The couple enjoyed a day of hiking and sightseeing before Jon got down on one knee and asked Shannon to marry him.
