Looking for an enjoyable way to spend your afternoon? The annual Downtown Duluth Sidewalk Days Festival will have live music, shopping, food, and activities for children. The fun starts on Wednesday, July 11, and continues through Friday, July 13. Each day the shopping and festivities start at 9 a.m. and run until 5 p.m. Evening activities include special events and street dances.
Superior Street will be closed to vehicular traffic starting at 8 a.m. each day of the sidewalk festival between Lake Avenue and Fourth Avenue West, so plan accordingly.
Wednesday, July 11 is the classic car and motorcycle show with a band on every block. It will take place on Superior Street from Third Avenue East to Fifth Avenue West. The bands include The Fractals, The ShackShakers, Park Avenue, Wildwood, Don’t Panic, Rock-A-Billy Revue, Lake City Smokin’ Section, and the Army Recruiting Entertainment Team featuring Sergeant Corrin Campbell.
On Thursday, July 12, you can taste hamburgers from more than 10 restaurants at Grill Wars, sponsored by Classic Rock KQ and Fitger’s. The event will be held on Superior Street in front of Fitger’s and is open to the public, whose votes will determine the best burger. The event is free, with a $10 donation to the Boys and Girls Club encouraged. Grill Wars at Fitger’s begins at 5 p.m. and goes until 7 p.m.
There will be two street dances, one on First Street and one on Superior Street. On Friday, July 13, the Pot Bellied Stallions and Solomon Witherspoon and Ten 17 will perform on First Street at 8 p.m. in front of Aces on First and Roscoe’s Pioneer Bar. On Saturday, July 14, Lamont Cranston will perform at 6 p.m. in front of Dubh Linn Irish Pub on Superior Street. Lisa Wenger will open.
It’s free to attend, but you must be 21 or older.
