Recipes for July 1

Hamburger Gravy

1 lb. ground beef

1 chopped onion

1 can cream of celery soup

1 can mixed vegetables

Brown the ground beef and onion. Add the cream of celery soup and mix well. Add the vegetables. Simmer for 30 minutes over medium heat. Serve over mashed potatoes.

Fried Fish Coating

1 c. flour

1 c. cornstarch

1/2 tsp. baking powder

1/4 c. water

fish

canola oil

Mix the flour, cornstarch, baking powder and water. Dip the fish into the mixture and deep fry in canola oil. Note: The batter will be thin.

I love this recipe because it is an easy batter to prepare. I make this 2 to 3 times a week. I watch the local supermarket for sales on fish but halibut works best for me.


Apple Pizza

1 loaf frozen bread dough

½ c. margarine

½ c. sugar

½ c. flour

1 2/3 c. applesauce

cinnamon

Thaw the bread dough. Roll out to fit a 9 x 13-inch pan. Spread applesauce on the dough. Mix the butter and sugar and then add the flour. Spread on top of the applesauce and sprinkle with cinnamon. Do not let rise. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
