Here are developments in Northland flooding as of late Saturday morning:
The Carlton County Sheriff’s Office announced this morning that drinking water in Moose Lake is safe. Reports that the city’s water has been contaminated are false, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.State Highway 210 between McGregor and Tamarack was opened this morning, the Minnesota Department of Transportation reported. However, state Highway 65 north of McGregor has been closed state Highway 210 and state Highway 200. Water crossed the highway about a mile north of McGregor.The Red Cross Scanlon shelter was to close at noon today. Judy Hanne Gonzalez, executive director of the Northland Chapter of the Red Cross, said the shelter had no occupants last night. The Duluth shelter at the Secondary Technical Center adjacent to the old Central High School at 802 E. Central Entrance remains open for anyone needing shelter or Red Cross services. The Red Cross will deliver meals to Fond du Lac neighborhood residents at 1 p.m. today. The Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicle will be in the area of state Highway 23 and 130th Avenue West. A center to coordinate volunteers and donations to help Carlton County flood victims opened at 7 a.m. today at the Cloquet National Guard Armory, the Carlton County Sheriff’s Office announced. The center will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Its phone number is (218) 384-1112.
