Aerial photos taken by the News Tribune this afternoon show the vast extent of flooding affecting the Northland after heavy rains this week.

While flood waters have mostly receded in Duluth, they continue to rise along rivers and lakes to the south and west, including in the Moose Lake and Barnum areas where sandbagging operations are under way.

The sewage treatment plant in Moose Lake has been forced to shut down.

The St. Louis River at Scanlon and Jay Cooke State Park is at record levels, and has caused major damage to Highway 210 and the park's iconic Swinging Bridge.
