Flash flood warning issued for Grand Rapids, western Iron Range

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for the Grand Rapids area and the western Iron Range until midnight. Rainfall of 3 to 6 inches - and counting - today has caused street flooding in the area.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for the Grand Rapids area and the western Iron Range until midnight. Rainfall of 3 to 6 inches - and counting - today has caused street flooding in the area.

Towns included in the warning include Grand Rapids, Bovey, Coleraine, Cohasset, Remer, Hill City, Nashwauk, Pengilly and Kelly Lake.

Radar indicates that 3 to 6 inches of rain has fallen across the warning area since 2 p.m., with another 1 to 2 inches - possibly more - possible this evening.

Law enforcement officials and weather spotters reported street flooding in downtown Grand Rapids, Nashwauk and Coleraine. High water also was affecting Highway 38 north of Grand Rapids.
