Ray and the former Mary McManus were married June 16, 1962, in St. Paul.

Their children are Sherri and Dan Jobin of New Brighton, Minn.; Sue and John Brusenhan of Magnolia, Texas; and Stacy and Jeff Sandberg of Roseville, Minn. They have four grandchildren.

Secret for staying married: Respect each other; be courteous with each other; give each other space and time; talk about things; argue and get it over with so you can go on with living; laugh a lot and have fun; and go to church together.
