Beginning Friday, the Essentia Health clinic and hospital in Aurora will have the same address.

In a news release, Essentia Health reported spending $4.5 million in construction and remodeling to create the new clinic adjacent to Essentia Health-Northern Pines, the former White Community Hospital.

The old Essentia clinic was located on the other side of town.

The clinic and hospital will share a new registration area as well as a new and expanded laboratory and radiology suite. The new clinic has 12 exam rooms and space for minor medical procedures. Another $200,000 project created a new waiting area for surgical patients and their families.

There’s also new technology and upgraded equipment. Electronic health records already available at the clinic will be launched at the hospital on Friday.

Northern Pines is offering several new services as well, including two telemedicine programs with Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth. Using cameras, microphones and computers, local health-care providers can quickly collaborate and consult with specialists at the larger hospital and trauma center.

A grand-opening celebration will take place at 1 p.m. June 19.
