Delores Hanson Lager, 88, longtime resident of Virginia died Thursday, April 19, 2012 in the Virginia Regional Medical Center.

Delores Hanson Lager, 88, longtime resident of Virginia died Thursday, April 19, 2012 in the Virginia Regional Medical Center.

She was born April 24, 1923, in Grand Rapids, Minn., the daughter of Carl and Julia (Finsand) Hanson.

Delores graduated from Grand Rapids High School and went on to receive her RN and Masters Degree in Public Health from The University of Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Harold "Finny" Lager on June 28, 1947 in Bovey, Minn.

Delores was an active member of Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church. She volunteered her time at the Hospital Auxiliary, the Virginia Area Historical Society, and Meals on Wheels. She was very involved with her family and her grandchildren. She enjoyed her time at the cabin on Lake Fourteen, and her dogs: Sisu and Bubba.

Delores is survived and missed by her son Robert (Ellen) Lager of Robbinsdale, Minn.; daughter-in-law Sharon Lager of Rochester, Minn.; three grandchildren Mollie (Caleb) Bousu, Kellie Lager, and Jon Lager; several nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Finny (2000); and her son J. Victor (2005).

SERVICE: 4 p.m. Sunday, April 22, 2012 in the Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church in Virginia. The Reverend Nathan Sager will officiate. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Interment will be at the Greenwood Cemetery Monday, at 2:30 p.m. Memorials are preferred to the Virginia Area Historical Society or Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church.
