First date anniversary
For their first date, which was also Valentine's Day 2010, Heather and Joe tried to go to the top of the Eiffel Tower in Las Vegas, but it was so busy they couldn't get reservations. Joe promised Heather that he would make an early reservation for 2011 so they could celebrate there on their first anniversary.
The couple spent Valentine's Day 2012 flying back to Las Vegas after vacationing at Heather's parents' home in Minnesota. Heather had no idea that Joe had actually planned the trip to Esko to ask Heather's Dad for her hand in marriage.
Joe was a bundle of nerves that night. Heather had tried to get out of their date because it had been such a long day but Joe anxiously explained to her that it wouldn't be the same if they celebrated on a different night. Heather reluctantly agreed.
When Joe got on his knee and asked for her hand in marriage, Heather thought he was joking and was embarrassed that other people were watching. There were a few tense moments before Heather realized that Joe was serious.
