Melissa Colomb of Roman Forest, Texas, and John Lindley Jr. of Porter, Texas, plan to be married April 21 at Oakland Farm and Ranch in Tomball, Texas.

Her parents are Jerry and Teresa Colomb of Roman Forest. His parents are John and Pam Lindley of Magnolia, Texas.

The future bride, a 2003 graduate of New Caney (Texas) High School, graduated from the Court Reporting Institute of Houston, Texas, in 2007, with an associate of applied science degree in court reporting. She works for Continental Court Reporters Inc. in Houston.

The future groom, a 1995 graduate of Conroe (Texas) High School, earned a vocational certificate in 2002 from Independent Electrical Contractors of Houston. He works for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad in Houston.

It's all in the cards

John proposed on my grandparents 57th wedding anniversary (William and Beverly Rybos of Duluth). He left a series of cards with different instructions for me to follow ultimately leading up to him standing with the ring.
