Rita Ahler, 78, Duluth, died peacefully Monday, March 12, 2012, in Hospice, Duluth.
She was born in Duluth, Oct. 13, 1934 to Alfred and Leah "Loly" Gagne.
She lived in Duluth most of her life, traveling the world as a supportive military wife to her loving husband, Roy Ahler, who died in 2000. She loved her homes in Germany, Hawaii, and Michigan, but always returned home to Duluth. She was a devoted, loving mother to her son, Darreld Johnson.
She had been involved in the NCO Wives. She was a champion bowler at Skyline Lanes, and proud of her 300 game. She was a member of The Lunch Bunch. She enjoyed playing bingo and the poker slots at the casinos. Her hobby was cooking and she loved feeding others.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Roy Ahler and Dale Carlson; brothers and sister, Alfred (Shirley), Leonard, Robert (Marion) and Joseph Gagne and Joan (Jerry) Tarnowski, and brother-in-law, Bill Linskie.
She is survived by her sister, Ella Mae Linskie of Duluth, and sister-in-law, Diane Klindt of Superior. She will be missed dearly by all her nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: 11 a.m. Saturday in the Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated.
