Here are a few helpful hints for conservatives coping with the Obama presidency:
If you make more than $250,000 a year and you are financially paralyzed by the uncertainty your taxes could go up a life-shattering 4 percent, try this: Budget for the higher amount and get on with your life.
If you believe tax cuts for the rich will stimulate job growth, don’t wait for the Republicans to cut your benefits and services to help the rich get richer. Donate directly to the rich and watch for all the jobs they create with your money.
If you’re tired of more and more government regulation, stop paying hoards of lawyers to find ways to circumvent existing regulations, and maybe more regulations won’t be necessary.
If you think the Keystone pipeline or local mining proposals pose no threat to the environment, pledge all your assets to help pay for any environmental disaster. If there’s no risk to the environment, there’s no risk to you.
If you hate abortion, try embracing contraception. If you believe sex is only for procreation, you’re doing it wrong. And, no, teaching contraception does not promote sexual activity. A sexually naïve teenager carrying a condom isn’t much different from a conservative carrying a concealed weapon.
If you hate the individual health insurance mandate, create your own charity to pay for the health insurance of people who simply don’t want to spend their own money. It will preserve their freedom to act irresponsibly while getting the rest of us off the hook for their medical bills.
If you believe same-sex marriage threatens the sanctity of marriage, you and your spouse should have a little talk. No wonder you’ve both agreed sex is just for procreation.
If this isn’t helpful, there’s always the thrill of irrational hate and fear.
