MEMORABLE MOMENT: Kunze, Reedy engagement

Callie Kunze and Ryan Reedy, both of Norwalk, Conn., plan to be married Oct. 13 in Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary in Duluth.

Her parents are Tom and Suzanne Kunze of Duluth. His parents are Ron and Michelle Reedy of Duluth.

The future bride, a 2003 graduate of Duluth East High School, graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn., in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in biology, and from George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, D.C., in 2011 with a master's degree in physician assistant studies. She is currently in the Norwalk/Yale Physician Assistant Surgical Residency Program at Norwalk Hospital.

The future groom, a 2003 graduate of Duluth East High School, graduated from the College of St. Scholastica in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in business management. He is an assistant manager at Stop & Shop in Westport, Conn.

Picture perfect proposal

We got engaged while living in Washington, D.C. I had a feeling something special was going to happen when Ryan surprised me with dinner at the top of The Kennedy Center.

Throughout dinner Ryan kept checking his phone and looking around the dining room. After dinner he took me out on the terrace overlooking the Potomac and proposed. Only then did I see our friend Matt taking pictures! He was so sneaky during dinner that the staff thought Ryan and I were celebrities.

The rest of the night was perfect; we saw the National Orchestra and walked the Tidal Basin, ending at the FDR memorial, my favorite monument. The best part is we have photos of the whole proposal!
