Public input sought on sign regulations

The City of Duluth’s Planning Division would like to hear from businesses, sign companies, residents, and other interested stakeholders concerning the current rules and regulations that govern signs in the city of Duluth.

The City of Duluth’s Planning Division would like to hear from businesses, sign companies, residents, and other interested stakeholders concerning the current rules and regulations that govern signs in the city of Duluth.

Specific stakeholder meetings will be held throughout the day on Thursday, Feb. 9. The meetings will be approximately an hour long with open dialogue between attendees and the city’s hired consultant, Camiros Ltd.

Meetings will take place in the Duluth City Hall, located at 411 W. First St., Room 303, with the exception of the 5:30 p.m. meeting, which will take place in Room 207.

The schedule for the Thursday, Feb. 9 meetings is as follows:

8:30 a.m. – Business stakeholders

10 a.m. – Marketing/sign companies

Noon – Citizen stakeholders (bring your own lunch)

3 p.m. – Open meeting for any stakeholder groups

5:30 p.m. – Open meeting for any stakeholder groups, Room 207

The current sign code has been in place since 1978. The city has contracted with Camiros, Ltd to assist with the public involvement process and sign code revisions that will need to be presented to the Duluth City Council before adoption.
