Alice D. Cacich, 91, of Duluth passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 25, at Rosewood Estates in St. Paul, with her loving family at her side.

Alice was born in Duluth and lived there her entire life except for four years in Chicago as a child.

After graduating from Morgan Park High School, she attended the Duluth State Teacher's College and taught school for seven years in Faribault, Hermantown, Wrenshall, Mora and Oliver, Wis. Alice gave up teaching with the arrival of her first child.

Alice's greatest joy, besides her family, was her flower garden. She could usually be found on her knees digging, planting, weeding and manicuring her gardens that were the showplace of the neighborhood. Oftentimes only sunset would force her back into the house where she enjoyed playing Scrabble, doing the daily crossword puzzle and testing herself at Jeopardy.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, George; parents, Adam and Mary Roguski; sisters Rose, Florence and Delores.

Survivors include her daughter, Judy (Douglas); son, John, and his wife, Jane (Carey); and granddaughters, Lindsey and Allison.

The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of Rosewood Estates, Essentia St. Mary's Hospice and Health Partners Hospice for the wonderful care provided Alice in her last months.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations in Alice's name be made to one of the following hospice organizations: Health Hospice Partners and Palliative Care, Mailstop #1120C, 640 Jackson Street, St. Paul, MN. 55101, Essentia Health St. Mary's Hospice & Palliative Care, 330 East Second Street, Duluth, MN 55808
