Cancer treatment costs topic of lecture at UMD

The costs of cancer treatment will be the focus of a talk at 5 p.m. Wednesday in Room 203 of Montague Hall on the University of Minnesota Duluth campus.

The costs of cancer treatment will be the focus of a talk at 5 p.m. Wednesday in Room 203 of Montague Hall on the University of Minnesota Duluth campus.

Dr. Jonathan Sande, director of the St. Mary’s Medical Center Ethics Program, will speak on “Doubling Survival in Metastatic Colon Cancer: Is It Worth It? Can ‘We’ Afford It?” He will use a case study to introduce a discussion of ethical and public policy issues he believes are at the center of current controversies in U.S. health care.

The lecture, from

5-7 p.m., is sponsored by UMD’s Center for Ethics and Public Policy. It is free and open to the public.
